Brits switch the lights off during sex to "save money on electricity".

A poll of 2,000 individuals has revealed just under 70 per cent confessed they prefer romping in the dark, with 60 of those questioned saying they do so in order to avoid pricey energy bills.

The survey was conducted by truTV to celebrate the release of 'Total Blackout', a gameshow where contestants undertake a series of challenges in complete darkness.

Elsewhere in the results, 14 per cent of respondents reported they would be concerned about their lover being "put off" by their sex face if they were in a well-lit room, while 48 per cent felt "more confident" making love in the dark.
