Bruce Jenner has reportedly told the police there was no way he could've avoided a recent car crash.
The reality TV star was involved in a four-car pile-up which left one person dead and seven others injured last week, but several sources have told gossip website TMZ that he was unable to help smashing into the back of a vehicle because the driver in front of him slammed on their brakes.
Insiders also told the website that the 65-year-old star isn't sure whether or not the motorist in front of him driving a Lexus had already hit a Prius before his SUV collided into her vehicle.
Bruce recently released a statement about the crash - which resulted in the death of his neighbour Kim Howe - in which he admitted he was "praying" for those injured and vowed to cooperate with the authorities in "every way possible".
He said: "My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident.
"It is a devastating tragedy and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time. I am praying for them. I will continue to cooperate in every way possible."
The star is believed to be in the process of a gender transition, but such plans are said to have been put on hold because he is putting so much time into helping out with the investigation.
A source said: "Because of the accident, people who Bruce hasn't spoken to in forever are reaching out to him to offer support for his grieving process.
"But they are also letting him know that they support his transition too.
"Everything happens for a reason and Bruce is a firm believer in this. He was in such a great place before this happened and he will be in that place again after the dust has settled."
