Ellie Goulding will run a 10km race in June.

The 'Love Me Like You Do' singer will take part in Nike Women's 10km race around London's Victoria Park on June 21, and has urged her 4.18 million Twitter followers to join her in the challenge.

Posting on her account, she tweeted: "Running a 10km in June. Come join me! #werunlondon (sic)"

The 28-year-old pop star - who is dating McBusted hunk Dougie Poynter - has previously discussed her love of running and exercise, and said the race is the perfect challenge for pals to undertake together to encourage each other to heighten their fitness levels.

She said: "I think signing up with someone definitely helps - train with a friend. The Nike Women's Race Series this summer is going to be really fun as you sign up to train with a group of friends and you do it all together. It always great to encourage, motivate and support each other right up to the finish line."

And while most people find running to be more of a chore than a hobby, the blonde beauty admitted she enjoys it so much she doesn't think she would be able to cope if she lost the ability to do it, because she uses the activity as "an escape".

She told The Huffington Post website: "Running is the basis of all the training that I do other than yoga. It gives me a great chance to focus when I am not in the car and I am by myself. I run to Barry's and I also run around Hyde Park and Regent's Park (In London) - it's like an escape.

"If for some reason I couldn't run any more it would be too much for me to take."
