Kris Jenner has called for a "family intervention" after it was announced her ex-husband Bruce Jenner is planning a "docuseries" about his "transition into a woman".

The 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' star is said to have been on holiday in Paris when a source close to the family confirmed to PEOPLE that her former spouse was set to release a series following his journey to becoming a female and now wants to "sit everyone down and figure out what the hell is going on."

The showbiz matriarch, 59 - who has Kourtney Kardashian, 35, Khloe Kardashian, 30, and Kim Kardashian West, 34, from a previous marriage as well as Kendall, 19, and Kylie, 17, with Bruce - is also worried that her daughters have been keeping her "in the dark" about the former Olympian's plans.

A source told HollywoodLife: "She's preparing a family intervention and she means business.

"Paris was supposed to be fun but it's turned into Kris' worst nightmare because of all the drama back home and she's not there to control it.

"Kris understands Bruce has a story to tell but she feels the girls need to let her in on what's going on with their father so she can help the situation.

"She's used to having the authority and knowing everything that's going on in her family's life but when it comes to Bruce and the phases and changes he's going through, she's in the dark."

Bruce, 65, first sparked speculation he had started the transition after appearing with longer hair and wearing makeup over the past few months and is said to be preparing to release the series when "he is ready".

An insider added he also is trying to be respectful of his kids - Kylie and Kendall, as well as Burt, 36, Cassandra, 34, Brandon, 33 and Brody Jenner, 31, from previous relationships - by undergoing the transition gradually.

The insider said: "It will air when he is ready to be open about his transition.

"But he's acting more and more confident and seems very happy.

"He's being very smart about and also respectful about his transition. Instead of completely shocking everyone, his changes have been subtle, and his family has had the chance to slowly get used to his new looks and life.

"He's in such a great space. That's why he it's the perfect time to do something like this."
