Lesley Gore has died aged 68.

The 'It's My Party' hitmaker sadly passed away on Monday (16.02.15) at the New York University Langone Medical Center in Manhattan after losing her battle with lung cancer, her partner of 33 years Lois Sasson has confirmed.

The blonde beauty had a long and successful career after she climbed into the number one hotspot in the US charts with her catchy track 'It's My Party' in 1963.

She then continued to score in the top five with her songs 'Judy's Turn to Cry', 'She's a Fool' and 'You Don't Own Me'.

Her later career included playing Catwoman's sidekick Pussycat in the cult TV comedy 'Batman' during the late 1960s.

Lesley hit the headlines in 2005 when she revealed she was a lesbian while hosting the PBS series, 'In The Life,' which dealt with gay and lesbian issues.

She also admitted she'd been living with Lois, a jewellery designer, for decades.

As well as Lois, Lesley is survived by her brother and mother.

Her funeral will take place on February 19, 2015, at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home on Madison Avenue in New York.
