Madonna "cried every day for weeks" when her daughter Lourdes left for college.
The 56-year-old singer has admitted she was devastated when she saw the 18 year old off to the University of Michigan and has described the experience as the "first heartbreak" of her life.
Speaking to AJ Calloway on 'Extra' she said: "I cried every night for weeks. I would go in her bedroom and lay on her bed and cry, it was terrible."
The 'Living for Love' hitmaker - who also has children, Rocco, 14, David, nine and Mercy, eight - recently opened up about how she likes to fuss over the teenager when she visits her at college.
She said earlier this week: "I'm very, you know, worried. 'Are you OK? Are you getting enough sleep? Are you eating right?' You know, I set up a humidifier in her room with eucalyptus oil.
"I was worried about the fact that she didn't have enough towels, Q-tips, you know."
The blonde beauty has a strong bond with her children and admitted she struggles to say 'no' to them because she'd rather advise then than give them strict rules to follow.
She said previously: "I'm not a fan of taking drugs, but I'm not gonna tell my daughter not to do things. I'm just telling her to be careful. [I tell her] never take a drink that you haven't seen somebody pour in front of you. Don't mix alcohol. Your basics, like be safe, do everything in moderation. That's it. That's all I can do."
