Romeo Tan dreams of releasing photobook

And he hopes to get buddy Elvin Ng to come up with its name

Romeo Tan dreams of releasing photobook

After wrapping filming for Ch8’s blockbuster drama The Journey: Tumultuous Times in Ipoh and Penang, MediaCorp actor Romeo Tan dived straight into work for his next project Good Luck last week.

At the imaging session on Monday, the 29-year-old admitted that he has not completely withdrawn from his villain role Zhang Yan in The Journey: Tumultuous Times. “I still unconsciously display some cunning expressions. I need some time to readjust myself,” he chortled.

One thing he is glad about, however, is exchanging the three-piece lawyer suit for comfy tees and jeans. In Good Luck, Romeo plays Liu Xuan who first met his future wife Lin Shihui (Chris Tong) at the orphanage where he grew up in.

Good Luck would also mark Romeo and Chris’ third collaboration following 96°C Café and The Journey: Tumultuous Times, where they acted as a couple and mother-and-son respectively.

“Although we are playing a married couple this time around, Chris is still my ‘mother’. I even texted her saying, ‘Mum, I’m going to woo you!’ he laughed. “To me, she is a senior who always looks after people. I think it’d be fun during filming!”

Romeo chooses Paige Chua as his model

An active user of social media, Romeo regularly updated his Instagram with photos taken while he was filming in Malaysia. Sharing about his passion for photography, the actor let on that he has always liked experimenting with the camera, even before his debut.

His heavy workload now may have prevented him from pursuing his interest in photography, but he still enjoys capturing moments in pictures occasionally. In fact, Romeo dreams of publishing a photobook which contains his snapshots accompanied by simple captions.

This reminded us of his good friend Elvin Ng, who released his first book titled Our Epic Little Lives, featuring his travels to Paris, London and Barcelona last year.

How about working with Elvin to realise his dream?

“No! We are poles apart. He’s an English Literature graduate and his writing is so deep that I fear people might not understand. He has an intriguing way of looking at things. His opinions are so interesting that they shock me sometimes,” Romeo quipped.

Despite so, the actor intends to get Elvin to come up with a name for his book, when he releases it in future.

If given an opportunity to pick a local artiste as his model, Romeo would choose Paige Chua whom he plans to create an “androgynous or classical look” with.

“I knew Paige before I entered the industry. I once saw her on the cover of 8DAYS and she looked so different. If we play around with her make-up and styling, there would be big surprises!” he exclaimed.
