SA2015: Rui En overtakes Jeanette Aw in Favourite Female Character fight

This week’s online categories update sees a slight shake-up in the Favourite Female Character and Favourite Male Character rankings.

We were wondering when – or if – this was going to happen, and it has.

After five weeks of intense voting from determined and dedicated devotees, Rui En is now in the lead for Favourite Female Character in the Star Awards 2015 online polls, overtaking Jeanette Aw who held the position since our first update earlier this month.

Last year, Jeanette walked home with the trophy for her role as Zhao Fei’er in The Dream Makers, but could Hong Ming Hui from The Journey: Tumultuous Times bring her similar good fortune? Or will, as the results have shown us this week, the tides turn (pun intended) in Rui En’s favour, granting her a fourth Favourite Female Character win for her portrayal as Qiu Xue Qing from Against The Tide?

Guess we’ll all have to stay tuned to Star Awards Show 1 to find out.

As for the rest of the ladies, Kimberly Chia’s Ye Xiao Feng (World at Your Feet), Rebecca Lim’s Zhang Xue Qin (Yes We Can) and Felicia Chin’s Pan Xiao Min (In The Name of Love) remain in the third, fourth and fifth places respectively.

There is also a slight shake-up in the Favourite Male Character rounds, but not to worry, Zhang Zhen Huan fans – your hero, whose character Gao Guo Tian from World at Your Feet scored him his first nomination, is still planted firmly in his No. 1 spot, three weeks after you impressively catapulted him there from the very bottom of the rankings.

This time, it’s Xu Bin’s supporters who have cause for celebration: his character Cartoon from Against the Tide has successfully knocked Aloysius Pang’s Fan Yang Ming (from World at Your Feet) out of his number three position, reclaiming the spot he previously held. While it may not be at the very top (yet), it serves as an assurance that their ballots are making a difference.

In the meantime, Elvin Ng’s Wu Wei Xiong (World at Your Feet) is still at number two, Romeo Tan’s Zhang Yan (The Journey: Tumultuous Times) is still at number five, and the Favourite Onscreen Couple rankings (with Zhang Zhen Huan and Jeanette Aw’s World at Your Feet pairing in first place) have not been changed. Still, it looks like this is shaping up to be one bumpy ride.

Voting kicked off at noon on 25 February and will continue until April 19 at 9pm. Results are based completely on the public votes on the Star Awards 2015 microsite.

Remember to vote for your Favourite Male Character, Favourite Female Character and Favourite Onscreen Couple online here until April 19 at 9pm. For more information on the Star Awards, visit our microsite, and stay tuned to Toggle for more!
