Insta-buzz: The best this week (September 12-18)

Some emotions we felt while scrolling through our local artistes’ Instagram posts this past week:

  1. Shock and excitement at Fann Wong and Christopher Lee’s picture that would make anyone think of a bun-in-the-oven announcement (followed by a resounding “chey” when we learned that it wasn’t).
  2. Envy when we saw that The 5 Show host Chua Enlai got to pose for a picture with Jessica Jung (yes, the designer who used to be in K-pop super group Girls’ Generation).
  3. Amusement at (and admiration for) Elvin Ng facing his fear of heights and skydiving from over 10,000 feet in Australia. Kudos!

If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to be trolled by one of the country’s biggest star couples, well, if you scrolled through either Fann’s or Chris’ feeds and saw the above image with the caption “We will be shouldering a new responsibility!” and immediately thought, “Oh, Zed’s getting a sibling!”… then, you know now.

As it turns out, the only thing they’re expecting is more moolah from an upcoming endorsement, which a representative from their agency Catwalk said will be announced shortly (although, if you’ve been on the Facebook page of a certain massage chair company, you’d be able to guess what it is).

What cool uncle Romeo is doing here is teaching his beloved nephew Skyler how to play “Shine A Light”, one of three games launched for a good cause: every time little Skyler (or any other player) completes a game from now until October 3, the CapitaLand Hope Foundation will give $5 to the President’s Challenge, which will benefit children aged 16 and under through various charities.

Those who completed 10 games also received an invitation to embark on a Charity Heritage trail with Pornsak and Kate Pang, both of whom also voiced their support on their respective pages. While registration for the trail has closed, you can still play the games and do your part for society at the CapitaLand #100KHopeHours Challenge page.

We’d be grinning like an idiot too (no offence, Enlai) if we got to snap a picture with former Girls’ Generation member – and now fashion entrepreneur – Jessica Jung, who was recently in town to promote her label. She also dropped by The 5 Show studio for an interview, which you can check out on Catch-Up TV.

Elvin Ng (@elvinngchoonsiong)

Brave, brave Elvin tackled his fear of heights head-on and took the plunge (literally) when he skydived for the first time (from a height of 14,000 feet!) during his trip to Cairns, Australia. You can get a clear indication of just how terrified he was before the jump in his video post, which shows him screaming and shivering and just being very unlike the calm and collected cool cat he usually is.

He later posted about his experience, “It's not called Once in a lifetime for nothing, it means I won't do it a second time arrrgh!!! First let me get my spirit back! (sic)”

Way to go, Elvin!

Carole Lin (@carolelinxiaopei)

Wow, has it already been a whole month since Carole became a mother? She and her husband David – a.k.a. the self-proclaimed “#stillblurparents” – commemorated the occasion with a precious family portrait selfie – just look at little Brooklyn sleeping so adorably over there!

Celebs, they’re just like us! Getting affected by the haze and needing to wear masks and all (even Sonia Sui is stuck indoors with her baby boy). Jokes aside, do follow Ann, Nat and You Yi’s good examples and whip out those N95s if the weather takes a turn for the worse again.

And speaking of the distressing air quality…

Pat sure didn’t appreciate the rude and unwarranted telling off she received from user “kimchichee52” on her post lamenting the haze. “How u know I'm not working? U don't come here n tell me what to do!!! And I have EVERY RIGHT to complain abt the haze like any one in Tis part of the world !!!! If u don't wan to see me complain, u can get ur butt out of my isg!! (sic)” she shot back.

Lesson learned: don’t mess with Pat.

Yay! Finally more “Xiao Un” on our feed! We couldn’t help but gush and giggle over how little Genghis displayed a range of emotions in his dad’s 15-second Insta-video with grandma, from contented to annoyed to fascinated. It looks like he could really have a future in acting just like his papa!

The best part about Ling Ling’s post (aside from the fact that Beckham is clearly growing up to be a fine young man) is the hilarious exchange between mother-and-son in the comments section:

Beckham: “Mum... you could've chosen a better photo :/”
Ling Ling: “to me any pic of you look (sic) cool”

Too cute!

The singing couple’s European holiday posts have been giving us a severe case of wanderlust this past couple of weeks – just look at those gorgeous views both inside and outside!

Oh, and in case you missed it, check out the musical couple’s blind auditions on The Voice of China 4 here (for Alfred) and here (for Kewei).

We have a question: where in Singapore have you been seeing views like this!? And please bring us there next time.
