Our local stars shine at Cambodia’s PPCTV MediaCorp Awards

We were treated to selfies, wefies and group shots galore when a gang of our very own local stars proudly represented us at the PPCTV MediaCorp Awards in Cambodia last weekend, where Channel 8’s The Journey: A Voyage won big with four awards including Favourite Drama Series.

Fashionable #OOTD posts galore at Asian Television Awards

The PPCTV Awards wasn’t the only local star-studded ceremony last week. On Wednesday and Thursday, the 20th Asian Television Awards took place and with it came an influx of stylish “outfit of the day” posts by those that attended. Looking really good, everyone!

Folks can gripe all they want about Jeanette’s lacklustre performance as Lulu in the Beauty World musical, but even they have to admit that she is receiving far more love than hate – just look at all beautiful blooms of encouragement!

One of the most outstanding arrangements – a huge bouquet of lilies in the bottom left pic – was from a young fan who happily announced to her idol that she had been accepted into a local art school’s theatre programme. “To be able to inspire someone and make an impact is something I couldn't be happier about!” Jeanette gushed in her caption.

Jeanette also has tons of support from her famous friends, who look more than happy to take the time out of their busy schedules to check out her musical debut. The folks who showed up last week include her Dream Makers 2 co-stars Zhang Zhen Huan and Ah Jie Zoe Tay, and Sharon Au, who played Lulu in the 1998 version of the Michael Chiang/Dick Lee production and wrote in her own Instagram post in response to the backlash against Jeanette, “Screw the critics screw the scrutiny.”

Oh dear. We could only imagine how worried the papa must have been when he found out his precious little boy was sick. “Omg!! My baby is sick. Sleep well, Daddy loves you,” Mr. Unbelievable captioned alongside a snapshot of Genghis all snuggled up. Get well soon, little one!

We don’t know what we love most about this shot: the cool rocking dragon (a nice spin on the classic playground centrepiece) or Baby Qi just hanging peacefully there, head pressed blissfully into her mummy’s bosom. In the meantime, we’re still waiting patiently for a full glimpse of her face...

Tosh posted this hilarious video of himself and fellow Ah Boys Noah Yap and Wang Weiliang fanboying exaggeratedly over K-pop girl group SECRET at the Asian Television Awards. When we asked him about this later, he clarified that they just did this for fun and that they aren’t actually outrageous devotees that can’t control themselves (unless they’re hiding the truth, but we’ll take their word for it).

The Cambodian branch of Elvin’s loyal fan club, Elvinology, celebrated his 35th birthday almost a whole month in advance (the actual day is on December 23). It also looks like he received a gorgeous framed painting of the city as a present – imagine hanging that beauty on the wall at home! “Thank you for the early birthday celebration. I'm #blessed to have you,” he wrote.

Baby Aden turned his sweet potatoes and milk sauce into “paint”, with which he used to showcase his budding artistic skills all over his tray (and his adorable, chubby, smiley face). We’re glad we’re not the ones who had to clean this up afterwards!

Not only is the actress talented and beautiful, she was also a force to be reckoned with back in school, racking up 2 A*’s and 2 A’s for her Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE)! Funny how her score is the lowest among her friends, whose grades were just slightly beneath hers, though.

We finally know how our very own viral broccoli-toting character Mr. Unbelievable would look like if he were a svelte young lady in her 20s. In addition to plugging the Mr. Unbelievable movie, which was released on Thursday, Julie also took the chance to direct followers to her lip sync battle with Ian Fang (she covered ‘Unbelievable’ while the duke channelled his inner G-Dragon for ‘Crayon’), where viewers can vote for the winner on The Celebrity Agency’s Facebook page.

If anyone was wondering why Xiang Yun didn’t attend the Asian Television Awards, where she was nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, it was because she was enjoying a snowy white December in Amsterdam and Finland with her family. Are we jealous? Only a lot.

The funnyman is giving us a baaad case of travel envy with his snapshots from New Zealand, particularly those that include the cute critters he encountered on the trip. Now how many of us can claim we’ve taken a selfie with sheep?
