Artistes pay tribute to Tiffany Leong

The festive season turned into a bittersweet affair when 30-year-old Malaysian actress and former Mediacorp artiste Tiffany Leong lost her battle with liver cancer on December 28, just days after being hospitalised for a relapse on Christmas Eve.

Although she had been relatively inactive in showbiz for a while, she proved that she was still loved and remembered when artistes from both Singapore and Malaysia took to their social media platforms to pour out their tributes, from her same-aged peers to industry veterans.

Andie Chen shared a poster of Prosperity, the Channel 8 drama they starred in together from 2010 to 2011, saying he admired her hard-working nature; fellow Malaysian actress Cai Pei Xuan, who visited Tiffany in hospital not long before she passed, posted a happy shot of them together; and Zheng Ge Ping, who played her father in Code of Honour, remembered her for being “an elegant and lovely girl”. Other celebs who paid their respects online include Frederick Lee (brother of Christopher Lee), Ann Kok, Sora Ma, Belinda Lee, Tong Bing Yu and many more.

On Thursday (December 31, 2015), Tiffany was laid to rest in Kuala Lumpur. According to Malaysian reports, about a hundred friends, families and showbiz pals showed up to pay their respects at Xiao En Centre. Frederick Lee, Cai Pei Xuan and Eric Chen led the funeral procession in front of the hearse, and Tiffany was later cremated at Nilai Memorial Park.

Rest in peace, Tiffany.

Our local celebs wished their thousands of followers a Happy New Year in a myriad of different ways, from text-overlaid wefies with their families to stylish shots underneath the fireworks to fancy quotes to selfies with former American Idol rocker Adam Lambert, who headlined Celebrate 2016.

Anyone who has been scrolling through their Instagram feeds over the past week probably saw their share of posts pointing out the most liked photos of the uploader’s year from their friends. Our local celebs were no different, flaunting their best nine updates (or their personal picks of highlights) from the past twelve months.

Elvin Ng and Michelle Chong, however, took it one step further and bombarded us with a lot more than that, saying “Well, I can't decide which is my #2015bestnine, therefore...” and “No #bestnineofinstagram because got more than 9” in their captions respectively. Well, with posts that include selfies with Rui En to triumphing at the Star Awards to skydiving for the first time (for Elvin) and with Michelle’s slew of hilarious dress-up opportunities, we can’t say we can’t blame them.

Well, now, here’s one New Year’s Eve gathering we would kill to attend. “I’m lucky because I get to spend my last meal of 2015 with two beautiful women,” wrote our homeboy next to a picture of him about to enjoy a sumptuous steamboat with two other musical superstars, Jolin Tsai and another of our nation’s prides, Stefanie Sun. Bo jio!?

There was an Alien (Huang) invasion earlier this week when Xiao Gui came into town to promote his new album. However, work wasn’t the only thing on the Taiwanese star’s agenda as he made time to catch up with his Lion City friends as well, namely Michelle, whom he worked with in her directorial debut Already Famous, fellow Taiwanese Lee Teng, as well as the Kandie-plus-Aden clan.

Hong Kong superstar Chow Yun Fat was in town recently (as evidenced by a couple of selfies shared on Ya Kun Kaya Toast’s Facebook page) and Project SuperStar alumnus Junyang was lucky enough to spot and score a shot with him. “I’m so happy to meet my idol! Fat Gor, thank you for the picture,” he fanboyed (hey, we’d do the same too).

Five Wu’s united in San Francisco when Allan and his children, son Jonas and daughter Sage, met up with Daniel Wu in the States for pizza. And spotted right next to Daniel was his adorable two-year-old little girl Raven, who rarely makes an appearance on social media. Hmmm, wonder where her mummy Lisa S. was?

Yikes, what’s this about Jeanette ending her 2015 by… throwing up after filming!? According to the actress’ explanation, she was coming down with a case of stomach flu (poor thing!), but her mood appeared to have lifted when a bouquet of beautiful sunflowers from her ever-loyal and loving Cambodian fan club arrived on the same day. Take care and get well soon, Jeanette!

The duke shared a hefty dose of puppy love when he uploaded not one, but two pictures filled with friendly furballs. The first, a group shot of pups of all pedigrees donning colourful party hats, was a sweet birthday shout-out to his just-as-famous-as-he-is cocker spaniel Hoshi, who celebrated turning six at a pet house. The second one was of three new pals he met at a dog café in Seoul. As if we weren’t envious of his white Christmas holiday enough already…

Lingling commemorated her December 30 wedding anniversary to Huang Shinan (they’ve been married 19 years!) with an adorable selfie of the two. She has also been sharing loads of gorgeous shots of their family vacation in Finland, driving us absolutely green with wanderlust envy (again).

Cynthia and Pat are this week’s #friendshipgoals with their stylish holiday shots in Japan. But before they jet off to the Land of the Rising Sun, Pat seemed to run into some trouble with the Galactic Empire’s Imperial Army, while Cynthia unabashedly cosied up to a Stormtrooper.
