Insta-buzz: The best this week (Apr 2 – Apr 8)

We’ve got lots of babies in this week’s social media roundup (so prepare for lots of delighted squealing), and we also have an update from a new mummy who unfortunately had a tough time bringing her little one into the world. Read on for more from this week’s Insta-buzz:

The former Project SuperStar finalists, who met on the show, became proud parents to a baby girl on April 1. Unfortunately, giving birth took a toll on the first-time mother, who injured her pelvis and tailbone and was left bedridden at the hospital.

“Hope n pray for my wife to recover asap. Very heartache n helpless to see her like this (sic),” wrote Junyang in a repost of a picture of adorable Azalea Ang from her account (yes, the week-old tot already has her own Instagram page). Candyce also shared a picture of her on crutches with an update on Tuesday afternoon, saying she finally got on her feet and was learning how to walk again.

In an interview with local media, Junyang revealed that the muscles around Candyce’s pelvis were stretched during delivery, and as a result, they became inflamed and made it extremely painful for her to walk. She was also down with a high fever before giving birth and was given antibiotics. He added that if they had known this would happen, they would have opted for a C-section instead.

Doctors estimate that it will take around nine months for Candyce to fully recover, and two months for her to be able to walk on her own again. Despite her discomfort, she insists on breastfeeding her daughter. When asked if this has affected their plans for a second child, Junyang said the earliest they can conceive is next year, and that he will not let Candyce have a natural birth again.

Jiayou and get well soon, Candyce!

Some of you may have heard about three Hollywood stars paying a visit to our Little Red Dot earlier this week, and a few of our own local personalities were there among the action. While Jamie hosted the red carpet, Enlai, Kimberly and Xiaxue were on site to cover the event as media (as you can probably tell from their epic selfies), but it was lucky Xiaxue and a few other “key opinion leaders” (as she explained in her caption) who were ushered into a secret room to take a group photo with Chris Hemsworth, Jessica Chastain and Charlize Theron.

Game of Thrones star Isaac Hempstead Wright, who plays Bran Stark in the wildly popular show, was in town earlier last week and dropped by 987FM for a chat with Joakim and Gerald Koh. The actor was also gifted with an exclusive 987FM T-shirt, which, according to Joakim, is not simply given out to anyone who is not a DJ with the station.

Awww, would you look at that happy little (onscreen) family. In C.L.I.F. 4, Nanxing and Rui En will become parents to a baby girl, played by a gurgling four-month-old. In an earlier interview, Rui En told us that she reacts to babies the same way she does with her cat (“I just want to kiss them”) and we think we can tell how much she adores her little co-star by the way she’s grinning from ear-to-ear as she snuggles with the infant.

It seems like only yesterday when we were reporting about the birth of Carole’s baby girl (it was in August last year, by the way)! Now, little Brooklyn is a super adorable eight-month-old with bright round eyes, fluffy hair and cheeks that we just wish we could reach into the computer screen to pinch.

On Wednesday morning, we met up with the duke at styleXstyle’s VIBES café at the new Mediacorp campus for our Toggle Talk interview (yup, in case you haven’t heard, a second season is currently in the works!). Like he said in his caption, stay tuned!

Poor Chor Meng fell down and fractured his leg, and was unable to attend a press conference on Friday as a result. We’re glad this sweet note warmed up his heart, though. Get well soon!

The actor’s adorable baby girl Aryssa celebrated her first birthday on Sunday (April 3, three days earlier than the actual day) with quite the star-studded bash, with guests that included Priscelia Chan, Zheng Geping and Hong Huifang.

Dennis’ #throwbacktuesday post featured a 14-year-old shot of him directing a children’s TV show for the first time, which included a familiar-looking duke in the cast. Well, hello there, preteen Aloysius Pang (far left)!

Well, look what we have here. Could Edwin be working out towards tackling a topless scene in his next project? Although he is still a kilo or two short of his 70kg goal, it’s still an impressive progress and fans did not shy from gushing over him in the comments.

George and wife Janet Hsieh are on holiday in the Maldives (how lucky) and they took some time to snap some hilarious pics with equally hilarious captions. While the mirror shot on the left is a parody of Kim Kardashian’s infamous nude selfie, George’s caption for the wefie on the right (“Oh hey look we both brought the same bikini top”) got the likes and amused comments coming in, including one from Michelle Chong who wrote, “Yours nicer got fur”.

“Finally got a picture with the newly-joined, up-and-coming actress from Thailand! Do show your support for "Shanelle"!” wrote Romeo in the captions. We must say, though, Shane Pow (sorry, Romeo, saw right through that one) really makes one hot chick.

Xiang Yun posted an awesome #throwback photo with Hong Kong-based Singaporean actor Hugo Ng, who will be seen in Channel 8’s upcoming blockbuster The Dream Job, which prompted comments about how both of them have aged so well. Seriously, though, what is your secret!?

The graduates from the fifth batch of SBC’s acting class in the 80s – including Tianwen, Xiuhuan and Hong Huifang – had a gathering on Tuesday after 33 years with their teacher Li Yongxi, who specially flew in from Hong Kong to attend the party.

Although about 30 people managed to make it, there were 20 more whom Tianwen had lost contact with, and he urged his followers in his caption to let him know if they are in touch with any of the absentees.
