[2016 MAMA] EXO Makes History With Album of the Year Win

EXO has won this year′s album of the year and made MAMA history.

On December 2, EXO won the HotelsCombined Album of the Year award at the 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) held in Hong Kong. This year marks EXO′s 4th win in the Album of the Year category. EXO′s Lay shared, "While promoting for 4 years, we received a priceless award. Thank you to the many fans around the world. I am so happy right at this moment."

Chan Yeol also shared, "There were times I felt uneasy and that we lacked something, but now that we′ve received this award for 4 straight years, I think those worries were for nothing. I will try hard so that today will be the start of history."

Meanwhile, the 2016 MAMA, Asia′s top music awards, is holding its 8th ceremony in Hong Kong. The awards began in 1999 as Mnet Km Music Festival and after about 10 years of being held in Korea, the event was held for the first time outside of Korea in 2010. It was held in Macau in 2010 and has since been held in Singapore in 2011 and in Hong Kong from 2012 through 2015.
