Bae Yong Joon: Marriage to Park Soo Jin is not a shotgun wedding

Bae Yong Joon shocked many with an announcement yesterday (May 14): he will tie the knot this fall with actress Park Soo Jin, who is 13 years his junior.

Most well-known for his leading role in hit drama Winter Sonata, Bae Yong Joon has continued to receive much love from both local and international fans. Park Soo Jin has acted in various dramas, including Boys Over Flowers (2009) and My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox (2010). She is currently hosting cooking talk show Tasty Road, which she has been on since 2010.

The announcement was made through their agency’s homepage, stating that the two started dating in February and that their families have met and decided on tying the knot this fall. While details such as the location and exact date have yet to be decided, KeyEast shared that both parties’ parents have given their permission for the nuptials.

Their sudden announcement led many to speculate that the marriage was a shotgun wedding, which was quickly denied by the agency. They shared that the two have a lot in common and understand each other well, which led to their quick decision to tie the knot.

They added that if the wedding was truly due to a pre-marital pregnancy that the ceremony would take place much sooner than the fall, when a baby bump would be more obvious.
