BTS smash old record for album pre-orders

Korean septet BTS made headlines when they broke initial pre-order records for their album, Love Yourself: Answer, in 2018. At that time, they recorded sales of over 1.5 million copies of their album, which broke the record that their previous album, Love Yourself: Tear, set in the same year. Love Yourself: Tear had over 1.4 million advance orders.

Now, they’ve doubled their own record and exceeded 3 million pre-orders for their latest album, Map of the Soul: Persona.

The album, which will be released today (Apr 12), has been sitting on top of numerous worldwide CD charts, a testament to the group’s strong selling power. In a press release sent out earlier today, the group's agency Big Hit Entertainment confirmed that apart from American singer Halsey, whom BTS worked with for their lead single ‘Boy With Luv’, they’ve also worked with British singers Ed Sheeran and Marcus McCoan, former X Factor contestant Ryan Lawrie, and production duo ARCΛDES on various tracks on the album.

BTS will perform ‘Boy With Luv’ for the first time on American variety show Saturday Night Live on April 13. After their whirlwind US promotional tour, they will return to South Korea, where they will hold a press conference on April 17 before kicking off Korean promotions.

Following which, they will embark on their new tour, SPEAK YOURSELF, which is set to begin at the iconic Rose Bowl Stadium in Los Angeles, USA.
