His former label has terminated their contract with him after investigations proved that he abused drugs

Park Yoochun to retire from showbiz after failing drug test

On Tuesday (April 23), South Korean media reported that JYJ’s Park Yoochun had failed a drug test administered by the police. The police had conducted a search of the 32-year-old’s residence and car a week earlier, and had collected the singer's hair from the premises as well.

The drug test conducted by the National Forensic Service detected traces of a form of methamphetamine, which meant that he had taken drugs within the past year. As a result, the police will be seeking an arrest warrant for Yoochun and bringing drug-related charges against him.

His lawyers have since stepped forward to claim that while they acknowledge the validity of the blood test, they do not know how drugs entered his system.

A video had also surfaced a few days earlier, showing Yoochun allegedly collecting drugs from a drug dealer after wiring money to the dealer’s account.

Following the results of the drug test, Yoochun’s management agency, C-JeS Entertainment released a statement, sharing that they will be terminating their contract with him.

“We've always believed that Yoochun when he said that he did not abuse drugs,” the agency wrote. “We waited for the results of the investigation while still believing him. We're disappointed to have been informed of such results. Thus, we have decided to terminate his contract, as we can no longer trust him.

They also added that Yoochun will be retiring from the entertainment industry, and will be halting all his promotions and upcoming schedules with immediate effect.

Yoochun had previously held a press conference in early April, after reports first emerged claiming that he had “forced drugs” on his ex-fianceé, Hwang Hana. During the press conference, he maintained that he has never abused drugs or any illegal substances, and has no knowledge of his former fiancée doing so.
