It has been confirmed that SM′s first in-company couple Taeyeon and Baek Hyun broke up earlier this year.

According to multiple sources in the music industry, Taeyeon and Baek Hyun split earlier this year and decided to maintain a senior-junior relationship. As they are popular not only in Korea, but all around the world, it was difficult for them to let the news of their breakup out right away and didn′t make their breakup official publicly out of consideration for each other. Unable to meet often due to their busy schedules, they decided to remain seniors and juniors. Although they are no longer dating, they remain on good terms.

Reports that Taeyeon and Baek Hyun were dating surfaced when they were photographed on a date in June of last year. As they each have large fandoms, the repercussions, at the time, were great. The dating rumors attracted a lot of attention from fans in Korea and abroad.

SM Entertainment confirmed at the time, ""Taeyeon and Baekhyun were close seniors and juniors but recently developed good feelings towards each other." Taeyeon, who was born in 1989, and Baek Hyun, who was born in 1992, shared a three-year age difference, and garnered attention as SM′s first in-company couple. Taeyeon was also the fourth SNSD member to go public with her relationship at the time.
