After months of speculation, it seems as though Tao has called it quits with EXO despite hopes that he may return to the band. His official studio updated its Weibo page with a teaser this morning (July 10), simply stating, “Z.TAO COMING SOON!”

While Tao has been his stage name since debuting with EXO, it seems as though he has chosen adopt a new stage name, Z.TAO for his upcoming solo activities. His birth name is Huang Zi Tao.

The only clue that has been given is a date, July 13, but the teaser photo offered no further information as to what will be released on that day.

Eagle-eyed netizens noticed that Tao’s name was removed from the list of band members on EXO-M’s official Facebook page earlier this week, which hinted that discussions between label S.M. Entertainment and Tao may have not have gone well. The sub-unit, which first started out with six members, is currently listed as having three members: Chen, Lay and Xiu Min.

Kris was the first to be removed; following which Luhan’s name was also deleted following his departure from the group. While S.M. maintains that the exclusive contract between the company and the three artistes are still valid, they have embarked on their respective personal schedules in their home country, China, and beyond.
