11 years after first bursting out on the entertainment scene as the leader and rapper of Korean boyband BIGBANG, G-Dragon, 28, has gained many different titles and accomplishments.

A producer, composer, fashion icon and more, the rapper has paved a way in the world of Korean pop, all under the name of G-Dragon.

At yesterday’s G-DRAGON 2017 WORLD TOUR <ACTIII, M.O.T.T.E> concert, however, the 28-year-old showcased a more personal and intimate side to him.

The concert started off with a barrage of up-tempo dance tracks that the rapper was known for, with ‘Heartbreaker’ and ‘One Of A Kind’ getting the fans dancing in their seats. Save for a brief talk segment at the start of the concert, the rest of the two and a half hours were mostly packed with songs from G-Dragon’s extensive discography, cycling between melancholic songs like ‘That XX’ and ‘Black’, as well as hip-hop tracks ‘Crayon’, and ‘Superstar’, off his latest album, ‘Kwon Ji-Yong’.

The rest of the time was dedicated to short but impactful video clips that had his colleagues (think fellow YG labelmates PSY, CL, Taeyang and more), as well as friends and family sharing more about who exactly “G-Dragon”and “Kwon Ji Yong” were.

“Ah, G-Dragon and Kwon Ji Yong? They’re different,” G-Dragon’s fellow BIGBANG member, Taeyang, exclaims at one point.

The video then cycled through various anecdotes shared by his loved ones, with stand-outs including labelmate CL describing Kwon Ji Yong as someone “warm and big-hearted, who nags because he cares, and likes to party as well", and BIGBANG member Daesung describing G-Dragon as “someone who has led the band well, with integrity for 10 years”.

Later, a mini-monologue from the star himself was shown on screen, where he mused on the difference between the two.

“I’ve been living as G-Dragon until now, but now, I want to live being Kwon Ji Yong,” the rapper confesses, to enthusiastic cheers of his name from the 7500-strong crowd at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Later, the 28-year-old shared with the crowd, during his ending speech, “It’s an honour to have a world tour as a solo artiste. During this tour, I just wanted to show and be Kwon Ji Yong. “

He also made sly allusions to him having to serve in the Korean army soon, smilingly saying, “This is the last show tonight, but, maybe, I’ll be back in two or one and a half years. I have to go ‘somewhere’, you know?”.

Later, he added, “We may be in different countries, but [I believe] that we will always stay connected, just like the USB [his latest album consisted of a single USB stick with the links to his songs]."

Finally, he ended the concert with ‘Untitled, 2014’ which he dubbed as “a love song for all of you”, even making a trip down to the moshpit to get closer to his fans at the end.
