Park Seo Joon shows us why he is husband material

It’s been a long time coming for fans of Park Seo Joon, who have waited for over five years for him to grace Singapore for the very first time.

Ahead of his fan meeting, held at the Resorts World Theatre, the 28-year-old actor charmed the media at a press conference last Friday, where he, among other things, talked about how he prepares for kiss scenes, and the unusual drink he discovered works as a hangover cure.

We saw a different side of him at the fan meeting on Saturday night, where he let his shyness take a backseat when he chuckled, bantered and charmed everyone present.

On top of that, we saw sides of Park Seo Joon we never knew existed – to find out more about the #husbandmaterial things he did and what he does when he’s upset, read on for more.

If there’s one thing about Park Seo Joon that we appreciate, it’s how candid he is.

Towards the end of the fanmeeting, he confessed, “I had a lot of negative thoughts because something happened in Korea just before I came here, but I feel really energised after spending all this time with you guys.”

He went on to admit that he usually goes for a drink whenever he’s upset, but that he felt like having a drink after the fanmeet because he felt really happy.

We can see why his mood was lifted – the fans who were picked to interact with him were really witty, with one of our favourite exchanges being this:

Fan: What’s your ideal type?

Park Seo Joon: Someone who loves me

Fan: Saranghaeyo (Korean for ‘I love you’)

Now, that’s a definite +1 for Singapore fans.

#2: Yes, Park Seo Joon can sing

He’s sung a number of OSTs for the dramas that he’s been in, including Hwarang, Kill Me, Heal Me and She Was Pretty, but we had to admit that we wondered if he could sing live.

The answer was a resounding yes, as he sang ‘Come into My Heart’ from his 2014 drama Witch’s Romance, and the session quickly became one big singalong as the fans joined in with much gusto.

He shared that when he took on his first major role in Dream High 2, he never thought that he’d have to dance and sing, since he was an actor. He put in extra effort into the drama, and chuckled that while the other cast members, who have backgrounds in singing, could prepare themselves for certain scenes within five minutes, he had to spend five hours getting himself ready.

“Wait, he can cook?” That was exactly our thought when he declared that he’d be cooking for two lucky fans in the audience. We wondered if he’d be putting together a sandwich and calling it a day, but no, he made a tomato base pasta on-stage.

While we can’t give you a firsthand account of how the pasta tasted, we’re pretty sure was pretty good, especially considering that it was made with all his love.

He was then asked if he’d cook for his future girlfriend if they were on a date, to which he quipped, “If I’m on a date, I’d want to go out and have a meal with her instead of having to cook. However, if I need to cook for her, I’ll always be prepared for that.”

Park Seo Joon also shared that he really likes babies, and he feels “at peace” when he looks at them.

Oh, and if that wasn't enough to make your heart melt, he knew that fans wanted to have their own memories of the fan meeting to bring home, so he declared that everyone could take as many photos and videos as they wanted - a different stance from the usual no photo or video recording rules at such events.

10 brownie points to him.

#4 He’s still considering his next project

Having graduated to leading man material (his past three dramas, She Was Pretty, Hwarang and Fight for My Way all saw him as the leading man), fans are undoubtedly waiting for his next big project, be it a drama or movie.

While fans may be waiting for the big announcement that will confirm his next project, Park Seo Joon shared that he’s still cautiously picking out his next project, and with a special reason.

“I want to work on more projects next year, and I’m so thankful to be born in this era because everyone is able to watch and appreciate my works,” he shared.

As for his past works, he let on that he has no favourite character, because “each and every role that I’ve played is precious to me, and that’s why all of them are my favourites.”

In Midnight Runners, he and Kang Ha Neul played Korean National Police University students had to launch their own investigation after witnessing a kidnapping. This also meant that the pair had to suit up in the police uniform for most of the drama, which made many fans’ hearts thump a little faster.

Asked to rate himself for how good he looks in the police uniform, Park Seo Joon declared that he’d give himself 500 points out of 100 – and we can’t disagree with that.

He also touched on his friendship with Kang Ha Neul, smiling that the bromance between the pair is so good, “there aren’t any words to describe it.”
