Singapore can’t get enough of iKON

It may have only been three months since they last visited, but fans were no less enthusiastic when welcoming the Korean group back

Singapore can’t get enough of iKON

Korean boy group iKON popped by Singapore in November for their concert tour, where they spent over two hours performing for and bantering with fans.

Fast forward three months, and we received good news that the group will be returning once again - this time for Samsung’s Unleash Next Gen Bold event, where they celebrated the launch of the brand’s latest smartphones, the Galaxy S10 and S10+ in Singapore.

As the good spokespeople that they are, they made sure to wax lyrical about the phone’s upgraded specs and capabilities, and also took the opportunity to take a number of wefies with the shiny new gadget. At the end of the show, they were also presented with their very own phones. Member Bobby gleefully quipped that he now had his own new phone, but the 1,500 iKONics (as iKON’s fans are collectively known) in the crowd didn’t. Touché.

The session, which was broadcast live around the world, also included - of course - performances from the septet. Their three tracks were clearly crowd favourites, as fans grooved and cheered along to ’Love Scenario’, ‘Killing Me’ and ‘Bling Bling’.

Some of the loudest screams, however, were reserved for when the seven members hammed it up for the camera, putting on their best selfie poses - ranging from the cute (such as Song’s multiple interpretations of the heart pose), hilarious (June literally stared at the camera with furrowed brows for at least 10 seconds, we swear), to the downright perplexing (Bobby, was that a newfangled way of showing finger hearts, or were you pinching your nose because you were having a headache?).

We also felt like our eardrums might very well be permanently damaged when they had a floss dance face-off, as all seven members danced very, very hard to the pumping beat.

While the event lasted for less than an hour, iKON and their iKONics definitely had a ball of a time, as the band promised to return soon, “and hopefully for a concert!” We don’t know if that was purely a wish or a thinly-veiled hint, but we’d be glad to welcome them back any time.
