Over the past year, the MES Theatre at Mediacorp has been the setting for many grand productions, most recently annual TV extravaganza Star Awards 2017 and Hallyu hunk So Ji Sub’s fan meeting.

From next week onwards, four more exciting productions are set to take place at the state-of-the-art, 1,500-seat auditorium, and with a wide range of genres and performance styles, there will be something for everyone. Read on to find out more!

A Night at The Musical with Three Phantoms

Most people would be familiar with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera, and you might have even caught the iconic musical at various places around the world (including Singapore, where it last played in 2013).

For two nights only, a trio of former Phantom of the Opera stars will take over the MES Theatre together with a band of world-class performers. Viewers who caught the local run of Les Misérables would be familiar with Earl Carpenter (who played Inspector Javert), who will be joined by Kieran Brown and David Shannon to form the titular Three Phantoms. Rounding up the impressive cast are Alistair Barron, Olivia Brereton, Marisa McIntyre and Lisa-Anne Wood.

In addition to classic songs from Phantom of the Opera, audiences will also get to enjoy performances of numbers from other beloved musicals, such as Miss Saigon, Cats, Mama Mia!, Wicked and more. Why make a special trip to Broadway or the West End when you can get it all in one place?

Catch A Night at The Musical with Three Phantoms on May 12 and 13 at 7.30pm. Tickets, priced at $158, $118, $98, $88 and $68 (excludes booking fees) are now available on SISTIC.

The Noose & Kakis 2: My PSLE Is Better Than Yours

After a successful, sold-out run in 2016, our favourite characters from mockumentary The Noose are leaping from TV screens to the stage for the second time. This time, regulars Chua Enlai, Suhaimi Yusof and Alaric Tay will be joined by The 5 Search winner Kayly Loh to tackle various topics in typical satirical, side-splitting style.

One major subject will be one that’s close to many Singaporeans’ hearts: education. From the outrageous lengths some parents would go to in order to secure a spot in a top school for their children, to the stress faced by kids on acing their PSLE (Primary School Leaving Examination) results, all these and more will be spotlighted in hilarious, irreverent ways.

Bringing the funny up another level are four of our island’s top comedians Kumar, Fakkah Fuzz, Rishi Budhrani and Sam See. Looking for a fun and relaxing way to spend your weekend a fortnight from now? Look no further than The Noose & Kakis 2. After all, you know what they say: laughter is the best medicine.

Catch The Noose & Kakis 2: My PSLE is Better Than Yours from May 19 to 21 at 8pm (Friday and Saturday), 2.30pm (Saturday) and 3pm (Sunday). Tickets, priced at $135, $115, $85 and $65 (excludes booking fees) are now available on SISTIC.

Geronimo Stilton Live in the Kingdom of Fantasy

Now here’s something for the little ones! For the very first time in Singapore, children’s book hero Geronimo Stilton will be coming to life on stage in Geronimo Stilton Live in the Kingdom of Fantasy, following performances to hundreds of thousands of viewers in Spain, Italy, Canada and more.

Based on the best-selling series, the live musical sees the titular character, a talking mouse who works at a newspaper, embarking on an adventure to rescue the Queen of the Fairies. His journey will take him through various kingdoms, where he will encounter all kinds of magical creatures – from witches to dragons to a giant.

Putting this impressive presentation together is no child’s play: the actors have to interact with projections and virtual 3D characters while engaging with live performers and a live audience at the same time. The result, however, is a captivating display that will entertain kids of all ages – and perhaps the adults as well.

Catch Geronimo Stilton Live in the Kingdom of Fantasy from May 26 to 28 at 5.30pm (Friday and Saturday), 11am and 2.30pm (weekends). Tickets, priced at $138 (includes limited edition gifts), $108, $88, $68, $48 and $38 (excludes booking fees) are now available on SISTIC.

The animated series of Geronimo Stilton will air on okto from April 5 to June 3 at 6pm, every Monday to Friday.

DRUM TAO: BUKYO - Japanese Dancing Drums

Did you know that DRUM TAO was the very first act to perform at the MES Theatre? The Japanese martial arts drum troupe has wowed over 7 million spectators all over the world since they debuted in 2004, and they are still going strong.

This year, the theme of their brand new show – titled BUKYO - Japanese Dancing Drums – is “tons of fun with taiko,” referring to Japanese percussion instruments. Audiences can expect more spectacular, heart-stopping drumming and dancing action, made even more visually stunning with stage effects and costumes designed by Junko Koshino.

We can certainly look forward to them coming back with a bang (pun intended!).

Catch Drum Tao: BUKYO - Japanese Dancing Drums from August 31 to September 2 at 7.30pm (Wednesday, Friday and Saturday) and 2.30pm (Saturday). Tickets, priced at $138, $118, $98, $78 and $68 (excludes booking fees) are now available on SISTIC.
