The new bride mentioned that she has become less spontaneous after getting married and would always think twice about her family before rushing into any big decisions.

The 38-year-old also added that she and her Singaporean business man husband whose identity she declined to reveal, were not in any rush to have children and planned to let nature take its course.

Following her marriage and a one year hiatus from the entertainment industry, it seems that Apple’s next stage in her career would literally be the stage. She will be playing the female lead in an upcoming theatrical play, Sole Mate, which will be held in December.

Apple plays Margaret, a housewife and mother-of-three whose marriage has grown stale over the years. She seeks to get away from the reality of it by indulging in various activities during a vacation in Thailand.

“I felt like I had to really put in effort adapting to playing Margaret as our personalities were quite different. She is rather tied down with both her roles as a mother and a wife, while I am more care-free, almost like a bird with wings that does whatever it likes”, said Apple when asked if she felt very different from her character.

Aside from the challenges faced with her role, the 38-year-old actress also mentioned that despite being a veteran in the industry, she still felt like a new student when she first arrived on set. This was because performing live on stage was very different from her usual filming and she had to learn everything from scratch.

She added that she did not really know what to expect since it was her first time performing and singing in front of a live audience, with no room for mistakes.

The actress, who is currently a radio deejay, also cited the reasons for her break from acting as her wanting to devote more time to her family and her new marriage. She is also currently running a software company which helps hotels and restaurants handle their declining manpower. In addition, she also runs her own online fashion store, 'Starlistawardrobe', that sells second hand items.

Sole Mate, which is directed by artistic playwright Lim Hai Yen, speaks about the hidden pains, struggles and desires of three middle-aged women. Local talents such as Lorraine Tan, Tay Sia Yeun and Brian Ng will also be featured.

Catch Sole Mate from December 8 to December 9 at 8pm (Friday) or 3pm and 8pm (Saturday) at the Victoria Theatre. Tickets priced at S$85, S$75, S$65, S$55 (excluding booking fees) are now available on SISTIC.
