SA2015: Elvin Ng loses his Top 20 spot this week

The unthinkable has happened.

After a strong period of not budging from the weekly Star Awards 2015 Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes rankings, Elvin Ng’s name is nowhere to be found in this week’s latest update. This turn of events comes as quite a shock as Elvin has always been a secure contender in the polls – since his first nomination in 2006, he has never failed to walk home triumphant in this category, but if his faithful elves (the name for his fans) don’t buck up and vote him back into the list soon, he will tragically miss out on picking up his ninth trophy this year.

So then, who’s the lucky – and heavily supported – one who successfully dethroned Elvin to claim a place? That would be last week’s absentee Dasmond Koh, who was brusquely knocked away to make way for Shaun Chen and Pornsak. As it turns out, his no-show was short-lived, and he has made a grand return (fans of Elvin, take note!).

And that’s not all: Dasmond is joined by fellow emcee extraordinaire Lee Teng, who has finally received his warm welcome into the lads’ line-up for the first time since balloting kicked off. This means that this week, there are a total of 12 names in Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes, thanks to a tie in the results.

For supporters of those on the ladies’ side (yes, all 11 of them, as there is a tie in there as well), you live to breathe easy another day: there have been no changes since last week’s outcome, and you know what that means: beloved babes like Rui En, Rebecca Lim, Joanne Peh and Carrie Wong are still well on their way to striking gold when the final results are announced at Star Awards Show 2 on April 26.

That said, fans will do well to keep those votes coming in, because as we have witnessed from Elvin’s devastating departure this week, anything can happen.

Telepoll and online voting for the Star Awards 2015 “Top 20 Most Popular Artistes” will end on April 26 at 8.30pm. Winners will be decided by combined results from telepoll voting (50%) and online voting (50%), and will be announced at Star Awards 2015 Show 2.

In the meantime, don’t forget to vote for your Favourite Male Character, Favourite Female Character and Favourite Onscreen Couple online here. Voting ends April 19 at 9pm.
