No crying or screaming, minimal fussing around, and no fear of the large crowd and many camera lenses on him – we’d say little Aden Chen, son of local artistes Andie Chen and Kate Pang, did pretty well for his very first media conference.

The adorable 18-month-old toddler and his parents met reporters at Blisshouse Restaurant on Wednesday (Jan 13) to introduce their upgraded online portal Kandie Network (Kandie, of course, being a portmanteau of Andie and Kate’s names), where they will upload weekly clips sharing their parenting and pregnancy experiences.

Social media users would be more than familiar with baby Aden, who makes frequent appearances on Andie’s and Kate’s respective Instagram accounts and even has a page of his own. However, in an interview with Toggle, Andie, 30, said that his son doesn’t quite understand his fame and probably thinks all the attention he gets is “normal”.

“He’s very open and warm to strangers – he’ll say hello to aunties at the supermarket and hold their hands and go around making friends with everyone,” he elaborated, as his wife added, “And when it’s time to say goodbye he’s very reluctant and will keep looking back at them! It makes all the aunties very happy.”

With family reality programmes such as The Return of Superman and Dad! Where Are We Going? being all the rage now, Andie revealed – after Kate’s quip that parents who are featured have to be “famous enough” – that they are “open to possibilities” about appearing in such shows. “But we have to see what Aden wants; if he starts to feel uncomfortable (with all this attention) then we have to reconsider, but for now it’s very enjoyable.”
