Shaun Chen as Guang Hui

What is your favourite 90s movie?
Comedic movies such as God of Gamblers, or anything by Stephen Chow, he is a genius! My favourite movie by him would be Flirting Scholar. I remember almost every detail and scene from that movie, especially the scene about the cockroach. (laughs) There are a lot of his classic scenes from that movie, I doubt that there would ever be another Stephen Chow.

What is your favourite song from the 90s?
‘Dui Ni Ai Bu Wan’ by Aaron Kwok, or anything by Hong Kong’s Four Heavenly Kings.

What is your most unforgettable memory about the 90s?
I remember Jimmy Lin, who debuted at the age of 17. He had this floppy fringe hairstyle and everyone wanted to copy him, so every morning before going to school I would spend a lot of time in front of the mirror trying to style my hair to look like his. (laughs

Julie Tan as An Ya

What is your favourite song from the 90s?
I listen to Westlife, Backstreet Boys or Britney spears, I loved Britney spears – ‘Oops, I did it again’? (laughs) Yeah, that was my era. I remember when i used to listen to my Discman or Walkman in school then my teacher would confiscate it. (laughs)

What is your favourite 90s movie?
Men in Black, because I used to be fascinated with aliens when I was young, I thought that they were very cool and how I always thought of how would it be like if aliens did existed. I was only 7 years old and I was actually a little geeky (laughs), I also felt that movies like Star Wars were so amazing.

What is your most unforgettable memory from the 90s?
I went overseas with my parents when I was 9 years old and being a really playful and active kid, I jumped on the hotel room bed with my friends and I slipped and hit my head. I thought it was going to be just a bruise, but I started bleeding profusely.

Andie Chen as De Ping

What is your favourite 90s movie?
Actually I was still in primary school in the 90s, so I loved Andy Lau, just look at my name. (Laughs) I loved that particular movie that had Andy Lau riding a motorbike in a denim jacket. Yes, I told people my name was Andie because I liked Andy Lau, and I got stuck with it.

What is your favourite 90s song?
Andy Lau’s ‘Wang Qing Shui’. It was very popular at that time and although I was still quite young, but I use to hear it very often when my the radio played it in my parents’ car.

What is your most unforgettable memory from the 90s?
I remember playing the Super Nintendo 2 with my two brothers, two of us would be playing and one of us would be on the lookout at the window to check if our parents are coming back. We will be able to spot them parking the car so we would hide the videogame frantically and lay out our homework on the table to pretend that we’re studying and we were always successful. (laughs)

Xiang Yun as Xiang Rong

What is your favourite 90s movie?
The 90s was my busiest decade because I gave birth to my son in 1991, so I spent a lot of time taking care of him, so I didn’t have time to watch much movies, nor do I remember much about what I watched. Perhaps Stephen Chow’s works?

What is your favourite 90s song?
I really liked Faye Wong’s ‘Wo Yuan Yi’, I loved the tune of the song and I loved Faye’s voice. Actually everyone loved her songs at that time. It’s a really beautiful song, but I cant sing because I always forget the lyrics! (laughs). I remember that we used to have a karaoke set at home at that time and we used to sing songs by Wakin Chau and Jacky Cheung.

What is your most unforgettable memory from the 90s?
It would be giving birth to my son, Chen Xi (he was later renamed as Chen Yixi). He was my firstborn so I really had a whole new experience in life and new feelings. It was a really busy decade for me.

The Lead premieres May 22, 9pm on Channel 8.
