Insta-buzz: The best this week (August 15-21)

The morning before she popped, the glowing new mummy checked herself into the hospital and posted these infectiously joyful shots of her and her daughter Brooklyn (who was, of course, still in that enormous tummy at the time). Congratulations again, Carole!

The hunky Ah Boys to Men star turned 25 on Wednesday and got a lot of love from his fans (he called this creative handmade card “the most awesome gift I’ve received in a long time”) and colleagues (kisses from his Lion Moms co-stars Russell Ong and Vanessa Vanderstraaten!) alike.

Chen Li Ping also celebrated turning one year older (in fact, she hit the big 5-0!) yesterday and hubby Rayson treated her to a birthday (pan)cake with generous scoops of ice cream (yum). His sweet post on Instagram garnered plenty of well wishes from others as well.

Look who got to meet and snap a pic with Mr. Ip Man himself, Donnie Yen at Hublot’s gala dinner last weekend!

Jeanette and Zoe were in Beijing to promote The Dream Makers 2 and it appears that their gastronomical adventures were a major highlight of their trip! We don’t blame them though: check out Ah Jie’s mouth-watering picture on the right. “Food is serious business!” Jeanette captioned on her shot, and how darn right she is.

A real man isn’t afraid to use a pink hearts-filled image as the backdrop of the photo with his daughter. But the story behind this sweet shot is even more touching: Mark has just returned home after two months of being away, and when his little girl rushed up to him to give him a hug, the funnyman could not help but tear up. “Babies, daddy is home, and I can send you to school every day!” he wrote. Now please excuse us, we have a little something in our eyes…

Ouch, that does not look pleasant. Poor Lilin suffered some wince-worthy bruises on her leg as a result of a “clumsy slip in the bathtub”. Always remember to use your tub mats, people! But in the meantime, here’s wishing Lilin a speedy recovery.

The Qixi Festival, or Chinese Valentine’s Day, was on Thursday and some of our local stars took to their pages to wish their followers in their own way, be it with some really close-up selfies or to show off the big bouquets they received.

But out of all the Qixi dedications, this one was definitely one of our favourites.

“Last year on this Chinese Valentine's Day, I was in KL filming, missing home, lacking sleep and contemplating life. When @qiyuwu turned up at the hotel with a huge bouquet of roses, I never would have imagined that a year later, I am both a wife and a mother. On this special day, I am thankful to be with the love of my life, my soul mate, my best friend and father of our first born.”

And that's not the only saccharine sweetness Joanne had going on in her Instagram last week. A few days before that, she shared a shot of her daughter with the words, "There were times during our gynae visits when we couldn't see how she looked like because her hands were covering her face. Now when she behaves like how she does when she was in my womb, (the occasional twitching, the hiccups, the long stretches and the face covering), my chest tightens with emotion as I reminisce the beautiful moments of pregnancy this little miracle has given me over the past year."

Both Yvonne and Julie looked unrecognisable – but also utterly stunning – in their short black bob wigs. Wonder if they’d consider making it a permanent mane change?

The yummy mummy shared a super tender throwback moment showing her husband Brian Wong cradling their then-newborn son Zavier. Too precious for words!

Romeo and his family (including his adorable nephew Skyler and niece Stacy!) finally took their first portrait together a few days ago. Well this is certainly one good-looking bunch!

Kewei must’ve been bursting with pride, joy and “I landed such a good catch!” feelings when she posted this shot of hubby Alfred Sim, who “rushed home straight after work to cook up my birthday feast”.

Lesson of the week from the veteran actor: don’t fall asleep when Dennis Chew or Pan Ling Ling are around or you will end up with wonderful pictures like these.

The twin sisters had a sweet family photo shoot with their parents at East Coast Park but we couldn’t keep our eyes off their insanely adorable Pomeranian BuiBui! “It’s so fluffy I’m gonna die!”

The duke was featured on PETS Magazine with his poodle Captain and gave a quote that didn’t quite sit well with feline lovers: “I’d never date someone who has a cat. I would try to convert her into a dog lover, and persuade her to give her cat away.”

After his comments unleashed an uproar on social media, he took to his page yesterday (August 22) to say sorry and explain his words, “What I said about cats was in response to my cat fur allergies and it was said in jest! But in hindsight, it was an insensitive comment and I sincerely apologise to those I have offended.”
