Rebecca Lim: My life was hanging by a thread

Rebecca joked that she had eaten too much during lunch and apologised to the team for “being too heavy”.

She revealed that she usually gets carsick and fears death, so she would never purposely challenge herself to face heights or even rollercoasters and thrilling rides unless she is with friends.

“I hope to be able to try out acting in more of these types of roles because in life, you may not have the chance to try everything. I’ll be playing a detective in my next drama, so it’s possible that I will be doing more stunts,” explained Rebecca.

When Rebecca was suspended in the air after “falling off” the bridge, lucky her was saved in the nick of time by her on-screen lover Zhu Jia Nan played by Elvin Ng.

Although the 34-year-old Elvin does not have to be involved in any dangerous stunts this time round, he still has a great fear of heights. The actor said that he felt very worried because he could clearly see how high up he was from the shoot location.

Elvin admitted, “Thankfully it’s not me that’s shooting this scene. I’m really too scared. When I was in the army and we had to climb ‘Jacob’s Ladder’, I was fine going up but had to desperately shout for help when coming down! I’m slowing down my every move because I don’t feel that this bridge is very stable.”

Since entering the industry, Rebecca and Elvin have never kissed so much in a single show before.

In Sealed With A Kiss, unlucky Jia Nan accidentally kisses Rebecca and all of his bad luck transfers over to her. As a result, the two end up going on a kissing escapade until they finally end up kissing with true feelings for each other.

Rebecca explained, “A lot of the kissing is by accident, be it performing CPR or just because the characters were moved by a slight desire to kiss. Only the very last episode will have a truly romantic kiss.”

The local stars always practice oral hygiene and discuss with the director about which emotion to portray before every kiss. Rebecca continued, “I hope that every kiss that we shoot is different and special effects will be added every time we kiss and touch, so I’m looking forward to watching how it turns out.”

Elvin recalled, “When we first started filming, I could sense that Rebecca was quite shy, so I end up being a little stressed and concerned about what she will think of me after shooting this drama. Every time we finish a scene, I will always ask her ‘Are you okay?’”

He mentioned that when he had to kiss Eelyn Kok in Chinese drama Together, he caused her to keep breaking out of character because he opened his mouth too wide during a scene where the two had to run towards each other. He quoted what she said to him, “Later on, can you keep your tongue to yourself?”

Elvin joked, “Now, I always tell Rebecca not to open her mouth too wide!”

Before Rebecca shoots the scene where she hangs off the bridge, the team checked to make sure the ropes were secure.

Apart from the safety cords attached to her body, Rebecca has also wrapped transparent tape tightly around her shoes to keep them from slipping off.

In the show, Elvin has a lot of fantasies, including one where his and Rebecca’s characters resemble that from the Korean drama, You Who Came From The Stars.

With Rebecca Lim as Cheong Songyi and Elvin Ng as Professor Do, the Singaporean actors performed a mushy but extremely hilarious parody about a damsel in distress.
