Drama and casting producers, take note: The Hill’s golden couple would love for you to cast them in a drama serial together – and they don’t have to play lovers too, adds Christopher Lee, during an interview with Toggle. “We can play enemies or siblings, even – she can play the role of an elder sister while I’d be the younger brother. That works too,” he laughed.

After their last collaboration in 2009 for local movie, The Wedding Game, and a special variety programme which documented their wedding preparations and the star-studded shindig in 2010, the couple decided that it was “too weird” acting as lovers and stopped doing that altogether, says Chris. “It didn’t help that she’d break out in laughter whenever she sees my face – on set. She said that I looked funny to her.”

Six years and one baby Zed later, the lovebirds who miss acting with each other feel it’s time to get back together on screen. Chris even shared that they are open to collaborations as long as it comes with a “good script.”

Well, for one thing, we are positively sure that Fann and Chris aren’t the only ones itching to reunite on screen and openly romance each other on national television if an opportunity comes their way. Hordes of fans are waiting for a reunion, too, after all, the couple was hailed as a match made in heaven (or TV) when they paired up for Return of the Condor Heroes in 1998, and they have been inseparable since they finally got together in mid-2005, after working together on six drama series.

Meanwhile, before casting producers work their magic, fans can feast their eyes on the local duo’s upcoming joint endorsement for a certain massage product which had the entire island and media (yes, including us) mistaken that they are expecting a second bun in the oven.

In honour of the most loving and mushy couple’s sixth wedding anniversary (in case you didn’t know, Chris’ Instagram handle reads as “aiai AND baby”, which is a combination of their nicknames for each other), we’ve put together a gallery as an ode to their past collaborations, starting with 1996’s Brave New World.

Enjoy!

1996: Brave New World

Fann and Chris’ characters got together after trials and tribulations in this dramatic love story that was partially filmed in Holland (the country, we mean, not the village). Truth be told, it has been close to two decades since this drama aired and we don’t remember much about it except for these: it was Fann and Chris’ first collaboration; Fann’s character sold cakes; Chris’ character was a poor student; and the drama had an iconic theme song which was a duet (‘Bie Rang Qing Liang Nan’) performed by Jeff Chang and Fann.

Louis Cha’s iconic wuxia novel had a local remake with Fann and Chris starring as its iconic lead characters, Xiao Long Nu and Yang Guo. This drama established the two’s identity as “onscreen sweethearts” in local showbiz, thanks to their characters’ romantic relationship with each other.

Before tear-jerking Korean dramas became in vogue, there was the turn-of-the-century Looking For Stars, a local drama which saw Fann and Chris play a pair of star-crossed lovers who had a one night stand together in Tokyo, Japan. She is Orange, an aggressive and high-achieving insurance agent while he plays Henry, a top-notch hair-stylist.

TV viewers adored Fann and Chris’ on-screen pairing so much that the two actors went on to star in Madam White Snake, a drama spinoff loosely based on popular Chinese folktale about the legend of the white snake. Although it is a story about the forbidden romance between mortal and demon, scholar Xu Xian (Chris) and Bai Su Zhen (Fann) are given a happy ending at the end of this show. Phew.

As a joint collaboration between Beijing and Singapore, Fann and Chris worked alongside international actors like Jordan Chan, Huang Yi and Hao Lei in Brotherhood. A revenge-themed drama about the relationship of two brothers and their family feuds, Fann and Chris were not set up to play lovers in Brotherhood and she even nearly became his on-screen sister in-law.

A drama about the SARS outbreak in Singapore, Fann and Chris’s onscreen time as lovers in this drama is short-lived as their characters are separated by death – he dies in a tragic car accident and she subsequently contracts SARS while treating a patient, but survives the ordeal. The two actors even flew to Korea to film a series of lovey-dovey MV montages for the theme song sung by Fann.

2003: Moon Fairy

Another overseas collaboration, this period piece is loosely based on a combination of two popular Chinese folklore characters – Hou Yi (the archer who shot down nine suns) and Chang’er (or the moon goddess). These two characters fall in love with each other during their time on earth, but their romance fails to stand the test of humanly desires and a heartbroken Chang’er flies off to the moon after Hou Yi refuses to become an immortal to be with her.

A comic period piece about deities (namely the God of Fortune, God of Prosperity and God of Longevity), fairies and the Celestial Palace, onscreen sweethearts Fann and Chris aren’t romantically linked in this drama and are paired up with Bobby Au Yong and Tang Yifei respectively.

2009: The Wedding Game

In this romcom flick, Fann and Chris play showbiz superstars who share a love-hate relationship with each other; they fake a relationship, cohabitate and eventually find themselves falling in love. Six months later, after the release of the movie, the reel-to-real life couple registered their marriage in a cosy ceremony attended by family and friends and they tied the knot one year later in a grand bash.

As the nation’s TV sweethearts, Fann and Chris got married before national television – audiences got to watch the lovebirds prep for their wedding via this special variety programme produced to commemorate their union. Moments and snippets of Fann’s hen party, Chris’ stag night and the groom-to-be procuring wife biscuits and distributing it to colleagues at the office were also featured in this show.

2015: Let’s Go Love

A Chinese adventure-reality variety series fielded by celebrity couples, Fann and Chris rough it out in the wilderness and put their relationship to the test in a series of challenges. Case in point: in the first episode, Fann and Chris were made to sky dive - they were individually paired with an instructor - from a helicopter in order to reach their destination. While it was mentally challenging and physically exhausting, our city girl said she only needed one thing – or man – with her: Yang Guo aka Chris.
