Angela Chang opens up about long-time family feud

Taiwanese singer Angela Chang opened up about her family feud from 2008, during her recent appearance on the sixth season of Chinese reality singing competition Singer 2018.

The singer was previously publicly accused by family members for being an unfilial daughter, when she reportedly abandoned her parents after gaining fame and riches from a successful career, causing her father to apply for government disability benefits.

In an episode that aired four days ago (Feb 16), the 36-year-old took the stage with her rendition of ‘The Lover who Roves Around’, first released by Taiwanese band Matzka in 2011.

In an interview for the show, the singer shared that the song resonated with her because it expresses what she went through. She also shared that she is now able to face the problem head on with the support of her younger sister Connie, who doubles up as her manager, and several good friends.

Angela also revealed that the feud made her “taste the feeling of betrayal for the first time”, and admits that she used to cry every single day following it.

When asked about her current relationship status with her parents, the singer shared that “family will always remain family”, regardless of what had happened in the past.

Angela’s emotional cover of the song won her third place on the show, and also stirred the hearts of the audiences and fans, who expressed their continual love and support for the star.
