Angelababy to give up her stage name?

Chinese actress Angelababy is certainly not an unfamiliar figure in the showbiz industry and has not only made a name for herself with the Chinese audience, but also internationally, as she has starred in a couple of blockbuster movies such as Hitman 47 and Independence Day: Resurgence.

However, the actress recently shared that she might not be going by her stage name of ‘Angelababy’ anymore but would instead be using her real name, Yang Ying.

This news came as a surprise to many as she has been known as ‘Angelababy’ ever since her acting debut, after combining her English name (Angela) with her nickname in her primary and secondary school years (baby) to form her stage name.

It was then rumoured that the 28-year-old actress saw her marriage to fellow actor Huang Xiaoming in 2015 and the birth of her son, Little Sponge, the following year, as a fresh start and has decided to make changes to her life, starting with the simplest task of reverting back to her real name.

She also said that another reason for the change was because Xiaoming preferred her to keep a lower profile now that she had a family. The actress has not been able catch a break even after welcoming Little Sponge, and has had to return back to filming movies and reality shows almost immediately after his birth. He also felt that becoming low-profile would help her focus more on improving herself and her acting skills, making her a better actor and individual.

The couple’s work studios have yet to confirm as to whether Angelababy will really carry out the decision of using her real name.
