Are Luhan and Guan Xiao Tong being too open with their relationship?

When Chinese actor-singer Luhan first announced his relationship with fellow actress Guan Xiao Tong (also known as Traey Miley) last year in October, his announcement not only broke Weibo’s server, but fans’ hearts in the process. Although some netizens have expressed their disapproval of their relationship, the pair has continued to openly display their affections for each other with multiple public appearances together and going on dates in full sight of onlookers.

In a birthday video posted by fellow Keep Running cast member Deng Chao yesterday (Jan 9), which was captioned with birthday wishes for cast member Wong Cho Lam, Xiao Tong was spotted standing next to Luhan, with the pair surrounded by other cast members such as Zheng Kai and Angelababy. Netizens were quick to comment on the photo, with many pointing out that Xiao Tong looked out of place in the photo, especially since she is not part of the programme’s lineup.

In the video, Luhan and Xiao Tong appeared inseparable as they were spotted sticking close to one another, and Luhan even said “Oh well, Ka Ka” after the cast members took turns to wish Cho Lam happy birthday. This line is seen to be the couple’s secret code as they started using it publicly after their relationship was announced. The line is a play on Luhan’s catchphrase “Ka ka”, which is understood to hold the meaning of “just do it” or “do or die”. While this line might have a special significance for the couple, many questioned the need for it to be used during such an occasion.

Some of the comments of the video read, “It feels awkward looking at Guan Xiao Tong”, and that they “can’t believe that Luhan would bring her along to film the birthday video”. However, not all fans portrayed negative reactions, as some fans commented that “there’s nothing wrong in bringing his girlfriend to gatherings”, and that “all is good as long as they are happily in love”.
