Barbie Hsu refutes reports of S Hotel’s poor business

Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu and her entrepreneur husband, Wang Xiaofei were recently said to be having financial issues as their hotel, S Hotel is said to be suffering from poor business. Their operating profits took a hit as well and this is believed to be indirectly caused by the lack of Chinese people travelling to Taiwan in recent years.

The hotel officially opened its doors in June this year and has been run solely by Xiaofei. However, to ease his burden of being the sole person in charge, Barbie stepped in to assist with the finances.

According to Taiwanese media, this has caused her to face intense stress and she was even reported to have “broken down in tears” a couple of times. In addition, she also had to make several trips to the doctor for consultations and treatment.

When the 40-year-old actress was spotted out on a walk with her daughter on Oct 3, netizens claimed that she looked “tired” and “haggard,” leading to speculations that running the hotel was taking its toll on her.

However, Barbie has spoken out and refuted these claims as ‘nonsense’. The actress said that the hotel was fully booked during China’s National Day, which was from Oct 1 to Oct 3. She also added that although group visits have reduced, business was not affected as most Chinese nationals still patronised their hotel.

“Firstly, I did not participate in the hotel operations and have not gone to the doctor’s. I will also not hesitate to press charges if these false claims continue to spread,” said Barbie.

Barbie’s manager has also backed her up and said that they had lawyers ready if needed.

Barbie has been embroiled in a number of rumours recently, from her involvement in her husband’s hotel business to her troubled marriage with Xiaofei, although these claims were dispelled after the couple posted an intimate picture of them during the Mid-Autumn festival (Oct 4).

Barbie was also said to be expecting a third child as she looked ‘bigger’ but she has since denied this and refuted that “her figure was still as good as before.”

Barbie married Xiaofei in 2011 and welcomed their first child, daughter Wang Xiyue, three years after. She gave birth to her son in March last year.
