Fans can be relieved to know that Hong Kong actor Chow Yun Fat is in fact alive and well, after rumours of him passing away surfaced online yesterday.

Netizens were sent into a frenzy yesterday after a screenshot of a news report circulated on various Chinese Weibo accounts. The image was of a female news broadcaster on the air, with the headline that read “Veteran actor Chow Yun Fat passed away in a hospital in Hong Kong today.”

A photo of Yun Fat in his 1989 action movie God of Gamblers was also posted at the top left corner, making it all the more realistic.

These rumours have been keeping fans on the edge until Yun Fat’s wife, Jasmine Tan, stepped out to dismiss these claims today. She immediately said that they were false and asserted that he was currently resting at home, “as healthy as can be.”

Yun Fat had previously intended to stop work temporarily last year to focus on his health as he felt that he had overtaxed his body, and wanted time to rebuild it.
