The family of Taiwanese entertainer Chu Keliang, who passed away earlier this month after a long illness, announced last week that they’ll be holding an official funeral for the 70-year-old on June 20, as a way for everyone to bid farewell to the well-loved entertainer.

Yesterday, Keliang’s management company revealed pictures of the “invitation cards” the family had sent out.

The pale gold cards were designed to look like a movie ticket, and features caricatures of the entertainer smiling widely and waving.

“The legendary saga of [his] life, something so rare that is seen only once a century, with its effect reverberating for eternity. Goodbye, the outstanding and refined King Chu,” the words on the front of the invitation card read.

Inside the card, another short paragraph pays homage to Keliang. “Life is comparable to a performance. The deepest knowledge, [but] a shallow sense of reason. Thank you everyone for being my allies. [This will be my] last performance, [the] last show of my skill.”

Keliang’s family also shed some light on the reason why they chose to have such an invitation card for his funeral.

“Thank you everyone for their guidance and care, as for Keliang’s invitation for June 20, our family decided to bid farewell to our father joyously. Before he passed on, dad always brought joy to everyone. [He] didn’t want everyone to send him off whilst full of sorrow, so we’re using this invitation card to represent his obituary, and inviting everyone to attend dad’s last performance at the same time,” Keliang’s family shared through a representative.

In related news, the funeral hall for Keliang was opened up to the public earlier this week. The hall was decorated with loads of flowers to look like a karaoke lounge, with various pictures of Keliang’s old programmes and movies hung up everywhere. Clips of the entertainer’s old shows were also shown, livening up the atmosphere, as members of the public pay their respects to Keliang.
