Eason Chan cancels all 25 of his scheduled Hong Kong concerts

Hong Kong singer Eason Chan has called off the entire Hong Kong leg of his concert tour, FWD Fear and Dreams Eason Chan in Concert 19/20. He was scheduled to perform at the Hong Kong Coliseum for the first time in six years, with 25 shows slated to take place from December 9 to January 6.

In a statement posted on November 21, the concert organiser, ESL Ltd, shared that they were ready to present this “memorable concert (…) after months of preparations and rehearsals”.

“However, in view of recent happenings and after due consideration, we cannot predict and promise the safety of our audience and the traffic conditions in the course of our 25 shows commencing in two weeks’ time. Subsequent to thorough discussions with our partners and with deepest regret we have to announce the cancellation of all 25 shows and will arrange for ticket refund,” they continued.

The company shared that they came to the difficult decision as they cannot promise that they will be able to reschedule due to the extended period for which they need to book the venue. Ticket refunds will be announced on December 18.

Eason has also shared the announcement on his Facebook page.

He is not the only one who has had to call off his shows in Hong Kong amidst growing unrest in the city, as Taiwanese singer Jay Chou announced on November 19 that his Carnival World Tour, which was slated to take place on December 6 to 8 and 13 to 15 will be postponed. In their announcement, concert organiser Best Shine Entertainment Ltd cited “uncertainties and possible interruption of public transport” as the reason for the cancelation.

Other stars who have called off their respective shows in Hong Kong include Della Ding and Wang Leehom.
