Gillian Chung is not legally married

Earlier this May, Gillian Chung was reported to have tied the knot with her doctor boyfriend, Michael Lai, in an intimate ceremony in Los Angeles. In a surprising turn of events, the 37-year-old revealed that they have yet to register their marriage, which means that the couple is not legally wed.

She made the surprising revelation that the ceremony in LA was merely a way to celebrate their love and create a special memory together with their loved ones. Among her showbiz friends who attended were Charlene Choi, Joey Yung and Yumiko Cheng. Both Gillian and Michael’s families were also in attendance.

However, Gillian assured that they will definitely be registering their marriage within the year, and that they are planning for a banquet in Taipei in September, followed by another in Hong Kong in December.

The couple started dating in September last year, and rumours of them tying the knot started circulating in April. They have since gone on their honeymoon in the states and Gillian has also been speculated to be pregnant with their first child.
