Gillian Chung and Michael Lai may have held a fancy ceremony in Los Angeles in May this year, but the couple are not legally married in the eyes of the law as they have yet to register their marriage.

The couple later clarified that the glamourous shindig was just a “pre-wedding party” for their friends and shared their plans to hold another party in Taiwan in September and a wedding banquet in Hong Kong on December 20.

At the lensing ceremony for Missing (working title), an upcoming book-to-film adaptation by famous author Kong Ming, the bride-to-be revealed that she is currently in the midst of planning for her wedding but plans to wholly focus on work for the next two months as this is her first movie in 10 years.

The 37-year-old also confirmed reports that her boss, Emperor Group chairman Albert Yeung, who gave her a RMB6 million (approximately S$1.25 million) apartment as her dowry, will be sponsoring her December banquet.

Despite their pre-wedding ceremony in May, Gillian shared that she and Michael are still living in different cities (she is based in Hong Kong while he is based in Taiwan), and he frequently flies over to Hong Kong for work and to visit her.Gillian added that they have no plans to have kids immediately after marriage as her “health is in bad shape” and she “falls sick easily”. She needs to get her health back on track before expanding the family, said Gillian. “I hope it (having kids) happens in the next two years.”
