Godfrey Gao’s family will take over the reins of the late actor’s clothing label

Taiwanese actor Godfrey Gao’s fashion label, which he launched in January 2019, will live on despite his death.

His older brother, Charles Gao, issued a statement on his social media pages on January 8 to confirm that the family will continue to work with Godfrey’s good friend James to expand clothing brand YOYUU LAB, which was founded by the two good friends. The brand focuses on functional, versatile clothing and is based in Vancouver and according to his girlfriend Bella Su’s LinkedIn account, she is also a fashion consultant with them.

“The shares that Godfrey owned in YOYUU LAB have been inherited by his family. We will continue to work hard to develop this business that my brother loved so much. We appreciate everyone who continue to walk with us on this journey,” he shared.

He also cautioned the public that Godfrey has not invested in any other brands, and as such is not associated with any other labels. The 35-year-old passed away after collapsing on the set of Chinese variety programme Chase Me last November .

Charles, who is reported to be three years older than Godfrey, made his showbiz debut in 2010 and is believed to be under the same management label, JetStar Entertainment, as his brother.

In related news, Godfrey was posthumously named the Most Popular Actor at the Weibo TV Series Awards that was held on December 3 for his role in The Gravity of a Rainbow. Fans of the late actor, along with supporters of fellow nominees Li Xian, Wang Yibo and Xiao Zhan, banded together to vote for Godfrey so that he would win his first and last award for a drama series.
