Janet Hsieh on the realities of giving birth

The new mother revealed that life after giving birth was not any easier than before

Taiwanese-American host Janet Hsieh recently posted several updates on life after her pregnancy, and revealed the harsh truths that it was not all glamourous as it was made out to be.

The host took to Facebook yesterday to update fans on what she had been up to following the birth to her first child, son Egan two weeks ago. She revealed that the pain from labour would not go away immediately even after the birth, and that one would still look three to four months pregnant. She added that the pain had even spread to her chest ever since she began breastfeeding.

“Your lower body would be sore and swollen and the pain might be so bad that you may have to sit on a donut. Your neck would be sore from looking down at your baby all the time and you would still not be able to sleep on anywhere else other than your side as your belly and chest would also hurt,” she wrote.

However, the 37-year-old remained positive and looked for the silver lining in these situations where she expressed that looking down at her baby meant that he was feeding properly and even joked how her chest would ‘look bigger’.

Despite the difficult process, Janet could not hide her love for Egan where she said that she did not mind the soreness in her neck as Egan was “so damn cute that she could not stop herself from looking down all the time.”

Janet married Singapore-based actor George Young in Antarctica in 2015 and welcomed Egan on Oct 11 after 38 hours of labour.
