Multi-hyphenate Jay Chou kicked off the Shanghai stop of his Carnival World Tour, over the weekend. The tour is also a celebration of his 20th year in showbiz.

The last night of the show saw his wife, model-actress Hannah Quinlivan in attendance, together with the couple’s two kids, Hathaway, 4, and Romeo, 2. At the concert, Jay dedicated a performance of his song, ‘Shanghai 1943’ to the adoring audience.

“I must have been the first singer to film a music video in Shanghai,” he quipped after his performance, referring to the music video for the song.

During his talk segment, Jay also made sure to promote Hannah’s upcoming movie, Sky Fire. In a rare moment, Jay shared more about his personal life as well, revealing his pet name for his wife, “Baby”.

According to media reports, Hathaway and Romeo did not manage to catch the first few performances for Jay’s concert that night. As a result, they had missed out on the “carnival-like” performance featuring Jay’s back dancers dressed as clowns, which happened to be the two kids’ favourite theme.

Thus, the next afternoon, Jay and his crew got together to hold a mini-concert for Hathaway and Romeo in full costume and makeup. In a video uploaded by both Jay and Hannah on Instagram, the two lucky concert guests appeared to be transfixed by the sight in front of them.

“It seems like Jay will become more popular at home (after this performance),” Hannah joked in her caption.

Jay Chou's Carnival World Tour is slated to take place in Singapore on January 10 and 11. Tickets are now available on SportsHubTix.
