Jay Chou fans, the wait is finally over. The Taiwanese Mandopop star finally jumped on the Instagram bandwagon, starting an account under the username of “jay________chou” yesterday.
He has only posted one picture so far, which was of him and his mother posing together beside an art painting. The singer said that “this was the first account he had created on his own in 17 years” and that he decided to do so to “make it easier for his friends in showbiz to tag the real him.”
Fellow Now you See Me 2 co-star Mark Ruffalo was pointed out as being one of the people who had tagged the wrong account.
The singer’s new account was quickly discovered by netizens after they noticed his wife, actress Hannah Quinlivan, following an additional user. They confirmed that it was really him as it was the only account with his name she followed, despite there being several fan-made ones also in his name.
Fans were quick to hit ‘follow’ and within half a day, his followers soared to 30,000.
Jay’s arrival to Instagram has thrilled many fans and he also created a laugh among them when he asked how to obtain the blue tick which proves that one is verified.
Jay previously only has a Weibo account which he uses regularly to provide updates of his wife and children. With his newly opened Instagram account, fans can anticipate more of such pictures coming along.
