Taiwanese actor Jiro Wang shocked many yesterday when he uploaded a video of him performing a dangerous stunt that went wrong during the filming of the upcoming web-drama series Death of the Book of the Western Xia Dynasty.

Jiro plays male lead Tang Feng in the series, which has been dubbed the Chinese counterpart of Raiders of the Lost Ark. After passing the audition in July, the actor has had to perform many dangerous stunts by himself such as skateboarding, skydiving and free-hand climbing, to name a few.

Jiro showed just how these difficult stunts were done in a video uploaded on Weibo yesterday. The footage showed the 36-year-old actor running towards a moving car, with no protection around him. His intention was to jump onto the roof of the car but lost his balance and slipped, his whole body landing backwards on the windscreen. The whole crew immediately ran over to assist him as he was trying very hard to support himself so as not to roll off the car.

“This is just one of the many contributions of being an actor. We are willing to put in a lot of hard work and not rest just to produce a good show for the audience,” captioned Jiro. He also added that safety always came first and hoped that God would always keep him safe.

His post has sparked much debate among netizens, with some urging him to be more careful while others remarked that such scenes were all part of being an actor.
