Jolin Tsai cancels work schedules due to viral infection

Taiwanese singer Jolin Tsai has cancelled plans to attend Milan Fashion Week in Italy, after she was reportedly hospitalised from a case of acute gastroenteritis (a form of bacterial infection that causes inflammation in the stomach and intestines).

According to her manager, the 37-year-old singer fell ill over the recent Chinese New Year holiday, with the bacteria spreading to her eyes and ears due to her weakened immune system.

Her management clarified that it was not a case of Norovirus (a highly contagious virus that is a common cause for gastroenteritis), and that the singer will need to stay in the hospital for the time-being as she recuperates.

Jolin also expressed regret for missing the event on such a short notice, and her manager thanked everyone for their concern towards the star on her behalf.
