Jolin Tsai turns up at dinner event looking worn out

initial case of acute gastroenteritis (a form of bacterial infection that causes inflammation in the stomach and intestines) deteriorated to Shingles (an infection caused by a virus that also causes chickenpox, resulting in rash and aches).

As a result of her weakened health, the singer had no choice but to make adjustments to initial work plans, including canceling a visit to Italy for Milan Fashion Week and delaying her song release and concert tour.

On March 14, the singer turned up at Michelin Guide Taipei 2018 Gala Dinner to greet fans and the media for the first time in Taiwan since she took ill. She was fashionably dressed in a blue-grey ensemble but appeared fatigued.

At the event, she told Taiwanese media she was not aware of the severity of her illness, and brushed it off initially. She found out it was serious only after her doctor admitted her into the hospital for further observation.

She assured fans and the media that she is currently enjoying a “speedy recovery”, and expressed relief that her Shingles episode had not left scars on her face.

After her brush with the painful disease, Jolin advised everyone not to overlook even simple flu viruses, as they have to be treated as soon as possible to prevent it from becoming a more serious disease.

When asked if she would pay heed to negative criticisms toward the French desserts she will prepare with renowned French chef Guillaume Coulbrant at the dinner event, Jolin stayed true to her humble personality, and said, “Not at all, I’m here to learn, it’s not a competition.”
