Mark Chao’s father dodges question about granddaughter

In late May, celebrity couple Mark Chao and Gao Yuanyuan welcomed their first child, a baby girl. The couple, who has always strived to keep their personal life under wraps, only announced that Yuanyuan was expecting in early April after months of speculation.

Since announcing the birth of their baby girl in May, it has been radio silence from Mark and Yuanyuan, who has yet to share any other details about their bundle of joy.

On Sunday (June 9), Mark’s father, Taiwanese singer Allen Chao made an appearance at an event, where he was asked about his granddaughter. However, he declined to share more about the baby girl. He quipped, “If I say anything, wouldn’t it be considered a spoiler?”

Allen would only share that he flew to Beijing after finding out about the arrival of his granddaughter. When he was asked if the baby girl resembled Mark or Yuanyuan, however, he laughed, “She’s not even a month old so we can’t tell yet. All the newborn babies look the same.”

He also declined to share more details, including the bundle of joy's name and nicknames in accordance with Mark and Yuanyuan's wishes.
