Nicky Wu, Cecilia Liu: We’re expecting our first child

The rumours are true – Nicky Wu and Cecilia Liu have a bun in the oven, and have confirmed the news in a short declaration on their respective Weibo accounts.

The couple previously shared that they were cutting down on their respective workload to focus on family, which led to speculation that they were trying for a baby after three years of marriage. In October, reports claimed that they are expecting twins, after Cecilia was revealed to have been turning down work projects since August.

Yesterday (December 20), sources close to the pair revealed that Cecilia is five months pregnant, but is not expecting twins as previously reported. Sharing that she suffers from morning sickness from time to time, the 31-year-old is said to still be in good spirits and has been eating well.

On the same day, Nicky updated his Weibo with a confirmation of the news. His short post read, “We’re both excited and happy while we await the new addition to our family. (We) thank everyone for your concern.” He also tagged Cecilia in his post, and she reposted his words shortly after with the addition of, “(I’m) looking forward (to it).”

Fans of the couple have showered their congratulations on the parents-to-be despite their brief confirmation, and while many are curious to know more details, such as Cecilia’s due date and the gender of the baby, they acknowledged that the couple is fiercely private of their private lives and might not share more details.

However, Nicky’s mother is reported to have done the talking for them, as reports write that she claimed that she will be welcoming a grandson in May 2019. She is said to have shared that Cecilia will be living in Taiwan for the time being, and will be living in the house that Nicky recently purchased there.

She also emphasised that the baby was conceived naturally, and not a test tube baby as some reports have claimed. Nicky’s mother also shared that the couple wishes to keep a low profile while they prepare to welcome their first child.
