Taiwanese actor-singer Ricky Liew was called in by the authorities in the wee hours of the morning on Monday (Sep 10) to assist in investigations after being caught possessing drugs. The actor-singer last starred in local drama, Doppelganger.
On the very same day, the 47-year-old held a media conference in the afternoon, where he tearfully apologised for his actions.
Ricky, who shot to fame after acting in drama The Greed of Man in 1992, explained that a stylist had asked him to lose weight during a costume fitting recently. Thus, he decided to use the fastest and most effective way to lose weight by turning to drugs. During the press conference, the actor-singer was visibly emotional, bursting into tears as he admitted that it was a “truly stupid” way to lose weight.
He also revealed that the first time he had taken drugs was 13 years ago, in 2005. Ricky shared that he will accept the decision of the company, which has elected to place the actor-singer on a hiatus, and that he has no right to wish for a way to continue on with his showbiz career.
Ricky also shared a statement, in which he shared that he deeply regrets his decision, and that he will face the consequences. He also wrote that he has no right to ask for the public’s forgiveness, although he hopes that they will be able to see his regret and repentance in his future actions.
