Taiwanese actress Ruby Lin successfully beat out fellow actresses Sylvia Chang and Zhou Xun to clinch the ‘Best Leading Actress Award’ at the 23rd Huading Awards, held in Macau last Sunday (Apr 8).She won for her role in 2017 Chinese mystery-thriller film The Devotion of Suspect X, where she played an affectionate mother who is willing to put her life on the line to protect her daughter. As the 42-year-old actress was pregnant with her daughter, 1-year-old Huo Xiao Ru (nicknamed ‘Little Dolphin’) during the filming of the movie, she thanked her daughter for being her “silent supporter” throughout the filming process.
“I was expecting (Xiao Ru) at that time. I want to thank her for helping me get this award, because she made me realise how much stronger I am as a mother,” the actress said. She further expressed her gratitude towards her good friend and director of the film, Taiwanese actor Alec Su. “Thank you for putting me through so much. Without you, I wouldn’t be receiving this award,” she said. Finally, the actress did not forget to thank her fans who supported her all this time, especially at the start of the year when she was wrongfully accused of being a “Taiwan Independence Activist”, which resulted in her self-produced drama series My Dear Boy getting banned in China.Photo: PBE MediaRelated:
