S.H.E takes first group picture with Ella’s son

Taiwanese singer-actress welcomed a healthy baby boy, nicknamed Strong Baby last night, to the delight of fans.

The news, which was first leaked by the hospital, became a trending topic last night, with a fan sharing, “Selina and Hebe were there [during delivery] as well, it’s rumoured that Ella had a water birth”.

This morning, the 35-year-old also uploaded a picture on Facebook together with Selina, Hebe, her husband, businessman Alvin Lai and her newborn, seemingly confirming the reports that her bandmates had been by her side during delivery.

The new mother thanked everyone for their blessings, and revealed that she had safely delivered her baby last afternoon, accompanied by her family and sisters.

However, she refuted reports that she had a water birth, writing, “[I] originally wanted to try a water birth, but it was not successful in the end. My cervix was too thick, and my birth canal was not wide enough, as it’s width did not even measure the length of a hand,so I had a natural birth instead. I didn’t get an epidural, so it was very very very painful. But, the midwife told me that I must continue to push and give birth to Strong Baby!”

Ella’s baby boy weighed 3.88 kilograms at birth, and measured 48cm in length. The singer-actress also shared that as meconium and amniotic fluid had entered the baby’s lungs, he has to use a ventilator to get rid of the impurities.

In other related news, the dedicated mother started declining all work commitments once she found out that she was pregnant, and is estimated to have lost out on an estimated NT$60 million (approximately S$2.75 million).

Ella confirmed that she was pregnant in October, and shared a month later that she was expecting a boy. She tied the knot with her Malaysian businessman husband Alvin Lai over four years ago, and she has regularly kept her fans updated about her blissful wedded life.
